Internship
The Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI) in Freiburg offers an internship that gives students in the political and social sciences an opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into the work of the Institute.
An internship lasts for 6 - 8 working weeks. The internships are not remunerated. The ABI offers internships all around the year. In view of the large number of applicants, there is a selection process based on the criteria listed below.
During the semester, interns can choose their working hours to fit in with their studies; however, interns are expected to work three days a week at the ABI.
Interns' functions:
- Research material for publications and research projects of ABI members
- Help ABI members to prepare talks and courses
- Background research
- Independent research for own projects by agreement
Requirements:
- Enrolment as a student in political science, sociology and ethnology; other subjects can be reconsidered.
- Familiarity with topics in development policy
- English skills
- Computer literacy (Internet, data processing)
Recommended qualifications:
- Period abroad in developing countries / field research
- Work/traineeship with other development organisations
- Other language skills (Spanish, French, etc.)
