This year, the University of Freiburg and the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute are once again awarding the Arnold Bergstraesser Prize to promote young academics.
The prize is awarded for an outstanding dissertation in the humanities or social sciences that deals with political and social change in the countries of the Global South in the tradition of Arnold Bergstraesser. The dissertation must have been accepted between 1.1.2023 and 31.12.2023.
The award prize money is set at EUR 1,000.
Proposals should be submitted to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Andreas Mehler, by June 24, 2024. Please enclose the dissertation in electronic or paper form with all reviews and a brief letter of recommendation to justify the proposal.
All professors, junior professors and private lecturers at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Freiburg are eligible to nominate candidates.
The prize will be awarded at the opening ceremony of the academic year 2024/25. The prizewinner will be invited to the award ceremony.
