Project: Decolonize Universities

Die vier Teilnehmenden des Projekts

Knowledge and knowledge production must always be seen in a historical context and often fails to achieve the assumed neutrality. Universities are not excluded from this either. In the project "Decolonize Universities: Participating in Approaches to Decolonise Knowledge Production", four young people are engaged in the process of decolonisation of two universities, the University of Ghana and the University of Freiburg. This involves a practical examination of curricula and partnerships.

In Freiburg and Accra, Abdul Karim Ibrahim & Harriet Nana Akua Agyapong (University of Ghana), Vincent Stein (University of Freiburg) and Felix Ampoma (University of Bayreuth) take a decolonial look at the curricula of Bachelor's and Master's programmes in social science disciplines. They look at the curricula of selected seminars at both universities, questioning the geographical origin of the research discussed. They were also involved in organising the SDG University Day.

The four participants will be in Freiburg until the end of July. After that, they will go to Ghana for the second part of the project.
