ACT

The Africa Centre for Transregional Research (ACT) hosts African researchers and aims to establish a differentiated picture of African reality for the general public. It is a competence, service and information centre for European African studies in teaching, research and innovation. The reciprocity of research is the centre's guiding motive to establish a new form of cooperation between German, European and African researchers.

At the official opening of the Africa Centre for Transregional Research (ACT) at the University of Freiburg, Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler, former German Federal President, and Prof. Dzodzi Tsikata, Director of the Institute of African Studies at the University of Ghana, will give talks. The Minister of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg, Theresia Bauer, the Lord Mayor of Freiburg, Martin Horn, the Rector of the University of Freiburg, Prof. Dr. Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer, and the Director of the ABI, Prof. Dr. Andreas Mehler, will give a welcoming address. The speeches will be available from 4th May on at www.arnold-bergstraesser.de/act and replace the ceremonial event that has to be cancelled to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
