Benedikt Kamski quoted in Le Monde
Ethiopia has long been seen in Western analysis as promising and hopeful nation. Plagued by conflict and far from realising its full economic potential, the country is overshadowed by Kenya, which serves as a conduit for American interests in Africa.
Benedikt Kamski provides his assessment for the French newspaper Le Monde:
"The idea that Ethiopia had immense economic potential is partly based on a myth, that of a vast market based on a galloping demography, but the rate of urbanisation remains low and purchasing power remains very low, and concentrated in the capital".
