The Arnold Bergstraesser Institute is a registered non-profit association (eingetragener Verein) recognized as a charitable organization. The Institute’s work is funded through public grants from the State of Baden-Württemberg as well as through competitively acquired third-party funding.
The ABI’s support for early-career researchers — in particular, the annually awarded Arnold Bergstraesser Prize — is financed through donations. The prize, endowed with €1,000, is awarded for an outstanding doctoral dissertation in the humanities or social sciences that, in the tradition of Arnold Bergstraesser, engages with political and societal transformations in countries of the Global South.

The Arnold Bergstraesser Institute is recognized as a charitable organization and is exempt from corporate tax in accordance with § 5 (1) No. 9 of the German Corporate Tax Act (KStG). Donations to the Institute are tax-deductible.
For donations up to €300, a bank statement serves as proof of donation. For higher amounts, we are happy to issue an official donation receipt.
