How are migration and mobility viewed, experienced, and regulated politically in African countries? This is the subject of a study by Franzisca Zanker and Amanda Bisong commissioned by the Heinrich Böll Foundation. The two researchers interviewed more than 20 African experts on migration and mobility, identifying discrepancies between norms, policies, and actual practice on the African continent. The aim of the study is to gain a better understanding of the social and political challenges of migration and mobility in Africa.
The study will be presented for the first time in Stuttgart at this event. After a brief overview of the study and its findings, there will be a discussion with the audience and a panel of political and civil society representatives: What can we in Europe and Baden-Württemberg learn from African perspectives on migration? And what significance do these findings have for cooperation between European and African countries, for example in migration agreements?
