David Miranda (Universidad de Playa Ancha, Chile) will speak about the current political developments in Chile and their regional and global implications. Chile has recently elected a new government with an openly far-right orientation that, among other positions, has expressed support for aspects of the Pinochet military dictatorship. This development forms part of a wider authoritarian shift in the Americas and beyond.
In this session, we would like to collectively reflect on and discuss how to make sense of these transformations and their implications for democracy, governance, and political contestation.
