Starting in the winter semester 2025/26, Prof. Dr. Andreas Mehler, Director of the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI) and holder of the Chair of Development Theory and Development Policy, will take over as head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Freiburg.
He will be assisted by Dr Fabricio Rodríguez (ABI), who will work as an executive assistant on a part-time basis. This role rotates regularly between the chairs involved in the seminar.
The central tasks of the executive management include ensuring and further developing teaching, coordinating the board meetings with the participation of all five professors, communicating with the dean's office and rector's office, and coordinating with the student council. In addition, the executive management contributes to promoting professional exchange between staff and teachers at the seminar.
The ABI is closely linked to the Department of Political Science through a joint professorship and is thus actively involved in teaching and research at the University of Freiburg.
