| © ABIStarting October this year, Anas Ansar, senior researcher at ABI, will take up a Junior Professorship in Political Science & International Studies at the North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Reflecting on this step, he writes: "Bangladesh is a country whose democratic challenges and transformations resonate deeply with my academic journey. After years of studying and working in Academia in Europe and particularly in Germany, I return with comparative global perspective and hope to offer students not just analytical tools, but also a critical lens rooted in both global scholarship and regional urgency. In this time of political upheaval, when institutions and norms are being renegotiated, such a position is more than academic — it is a civic responsibility. I look forward to this new challenge with enthusiasm and purpose."
Only recently, his first monograph, “Rohingyas and the Geographies of Precarity in Exile: Everyday Life in Bangladesh and Malaysia” has been published in the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies series with De Gruyter.
In addition to the professorship in Bangladesh, Anas Ansar will continue his work at the ABI. ABI congratulates him on this exciting opportunity and looks forward to his contributions to the academic community and the institute.
