The ABI restructures its leadership
Dr Franzisca Zanker has been appointed Deputy Director of ABI by the ABI e.V. Executive Board.
She has been working as a member of the research staff at the Institute since 2016 and has headed the Refugee and Migration Research Cluster since 2017. Since then, she has led several projects on migration politics in Africa, including the ERC project ‘The Political Lives of Migrants: Perspectives from Africa’ since 2024. She co-founded the international research group ‘African Mobility, Migration and Displacement’.
Dr Zanker publishes in internationally renowned journals and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Refugee Studies and the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies. She is on the board of the German Network for Forced Migration Studies. As deputy director, she supports Director Mehler in the scientific management of the institute.
