The importance of Africa as a partner of Baden-Wuerttemberg is growing. Following a suggestion by the State Ministry of Baden-Wuerttemberg in 2025, Martin Adelmann and Sigurd Rothe (with collaboration of Anika Becher, ACT) have conducted a study called "Afrika im Blick 2025". In it, they emphasize the urgent need for deeper cooperation with the African continent, particularly in light of the changing global landscape. In addition to reviewing cooperation from 2020 to 2025, the study delves deeper into the fields of economy, science and education, development cooperation, as well as the diaspora and qualified migrant workers. The study was presented in March 2026 to State Secretaries Hoogvliet (State Ministry) and Rapp (Ministry of Economic Affairs) and has now been published.
The study is intended as an assessment of the current situation and an impulse for political debate. It presents a Baden-Württemberg perspective on cooperation with actors in Africa, but can also serve as a starting point for dialogue with African actors and their perspectives on cooperation.
