Tim Glawion on Deutschlandfunk Kultur: Donations won't solve the world's problems

Tim Glawion im Interview

In this radio report in Deutschlandfunk Kultur - Politisches Feuilleton, Tim Glawion questions the long-time effects of donations and aid projects in authoritarian and war-torn countries like Sudan and Congo, where the government and/or rebel groups do not necessarily have the best interest of the population in mind. He shares observations from his research stay in the Central African Republic: Oftentimes, hospitals, schools, or projects within agriculture are funded by external donations, whereas state institutions and rebels can put more money into militarisation, which ultimately doesn't improve the situation. However, he also shares possibilities for donating that can have a positive effect.

The whole report can be listened to on the website of Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
