Restoration and reclamation of mined-out areas and other degraded lands for biodiversity conservation and rural development in Burkina Faso

The purpose of this postdoctoral project is to develop effective strategies for the reclamation of degraded land and ecosystems in the mining regions of sub-Saharan Africa, in particular Burkina Faso. Lead-researcher Dr. Sidzabda Djibril Dayamba (CIFOR, Burkina Faso) is supported by Dr. Helga Dickow and Dr. Christian von Lübke, who contribute the methodological, conceptual and social-political perspectives to the project. Joint field work in Burkina Faso is planned for September 2014 and 2016.
