Alessandra Bonci joined the ABI in October as a postdoctoral researcher. A political scientist by training, she will study energy infrastructure policies between Europe and North Africa in the project 'Promises of Democratic Connection'. She is particularly interested in the political impact of energy infrastructure on North African regimes, including the strengthening of authoritarian practices. Alessandra received her PhD from Laval University in 2022, where she studied the non-traditional political engagement of pious and illiberal Muslim women in Tunisia. She also worked at Laval University as a coordinator on a social work project concerning the integration of migrants in Quebec through "intercultural twinning"
