Turkish doctors are among those other professionals who on grounds of their professions enjoy a privileged access to a visa in Germany through the EU Blue Card program. However, their actual migratory experiences demonstrate that while they enjoy privilege in mobility, they become subject to the practices of bureaucratic uncertainty. This article firstly focuses on how bureaucratic uncertainties in the context of migration mobility are constituted through the imprudent and whimsical decisions of governmental officials, through officials’ apathetic indifference towards visa applicants, and through refusal of providing access to information as well as through imposing vague time frames. The paper, then, explores the ways in which Turkish migrant doctors and their family members deal with the social, emotional, and economic implications of bureaucratic uncertainties. The article concludes that being highly skilled leads to privilege in mobility but does not automatically lead to advantages and easiness in the bureaucratic contexts of migration.
