Evaluation of Labor Union Work by the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation in southern and eastern Africa

ABI was commissioned by the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation (FES) to evaluate support efforts pertaining to labor union work in Africa. The evaluation in the southern parts of the continent  involvedfield studies in South Africa and Mozambique;  in  eastern Africa assessments were conducted in Kenya and Tanzania. Elements of the appraisal included interviews with FES Staff and partner representatives, such as union officials, researchers and other experts in areas of labor and societal politics. The evaluation analyzed and appraised the concept and effectiveness of FES’s labor union efforts and provides a number of recommendations for future project directions.
