The Arnold Bergstraesser Institute established the Baden-Württemberg University Network for Global Partnerships (GloPart) in 2023 with initial funding from the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry. The network is part of several civil society networks of the state of Baden-Württemberg in the field of international cooperation. It is represented by Martin Adelmann (ABI) in the Council for Development Cooperation of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The network connects dedicated actors from universities in Baden-Württemberg who are committed to increased cooperation with the Global South. A website and a newsletter were created for the GloPart network as part of the project.
The project website publishes recent news and activities: https://www.hochschulnetzwerk-glopart.de/en
A highlight of the project was the SDG University Day on "De-Colonizing Partnerships" organized jointly with the Africa Centre for Transregional Research (ACT) at the University of Freiburg with around 140 participants, including Baden-Württemberg's Science Minister Olschowski.
As an output for policymakers, GloPart summarizes the most important results of the University Day and the network's internal discussions in the recommendation paper "Strengthening global partnerships at universities" and formulates recommendations for the state and the universities.
As a Follow-Up the team published a detailed report (German) Bericht, the radio show südnordfunk documented audio recordings and a team of ASA-students, together with ACT produced a video documentation about the university day. Akua Agyapong, student at the University of Ghana and participant in the ASA project, conducted interviews with attendees from various institutions. These videos can be found in a YouTube playlist for the university day.
