The PolMig project team is feeling invigorated following the first annual advisory board meeting. It was dedicated to questions of research ethics in preparation for the first fieldwork phase.

Udi Raz came to Freiburg for an equity and diversity workshop organised by the Emmy Noether Group ‘The Political Economy of Solar Energy in the MENA Region’.

Starting in the winter semester 2025/26, Prof. Dr. Andreas Mehler will take over as head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Freiburg.

Franzisca Zanker moderated a panel discussion with prominent guests. The focus was on the African diaspora in Freiburg and Germany. 

Tim Glawion is at MIASA in Accra from August to December as part of an interdisciplinary fellow group. They aim to develop a novel approach to comparative research in the field of peace and security studies.

Starting October this year, Anas Ansar will take up a Junior Professorship in Political Science & International Studies at the North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Anas Ansar's first monograph, “Rohingyas and the Geographies of Precarity in Exile: Everyday Life in Bangladesh and Malaysia,” has been published in the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies series with De Gruyter.

The ABI takes leave of Helga Dickow as a senior researcher. At the same time, she is not leaving us, but will continue to be part of the ABI as an associate researcher.
