In an interview with FINEP - Forum for International Development + Planning e.V., Martin Adelmann shares his thoughts on the transformative potential of knowledge in the context of a socially just and ecologically sustainable transformation at and through universities. He highlights the role of research institutions such as the Arnold-Bergstraesser-Institute and university networks such as the Baden-Württemberg University Network for Global Partnerships. Reducing global knowledge asymmetries is particularly important. However, this often depends on the interests of large scientific publishers and the success criteria for researchers formulated by the scientific system. However, global knowledge asymmetries can also be reduced on a small scale through collaborative research with colleagues from the Global South. This also improves the quality of research.
