Public lecture: "Renewable Energies, Renewed Authoritarianisms?"

In this public lecture on ‘Renewable Energies, Renewed Authoritarianisms?’ Natalie Koch (Syracuse University) and Hamza Hamouchene (Transnational Institute) discuss questions of energy transition and Gulf geopolitics, as well as energy colonialism in North Africa. The event was funded by the Young Academy for Sustainability Research (YAS) at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) and moderated by YAS member and ABI senior researcher Benjamin Schuetze. It was also part of a 2-days international workshop on ‘Transnational Dimensions of Energy Transitions: Politics and Inequalities in and beyond Latin America and West Asia-North Africa’, co-organized by Benjamin Schuetze, Alke Jenss, Rosa Lehmann and Thilo Wiertz.
