The current International Quarterly for Asia Studies Vol. 49

Based on the concept of Securityscapes, the articles in the current IQAS issue examine concepts and practices of security in people's everyday lives. The focus is deliberately directed away from the state structures, which are usually the main focus of the discussion on "security", to the individual level: How do people in Asia feel and shape security in their everyday lives at the local level? The regional focus of the case studies is on Central Asia and is complemented by two contributions on Bangladesh and Southeast Asia. Whether it is the LGTB in Kyrgyzstan or dealing with flood disasters in Indonesia, it is ultimately decisive what measures individuals take - or do not take - on a daily basis to protect themselves from threats.
