ABI has been contracted by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to provide comprehensive analysis and continuous monitoring of Ethiopia's post-war political landscape. Led by Benedikt Kamski and Jonah Wedekind, ABI leverages its extensive research expertise and current understanding of the country's political context to deliver insights that effectively guide Germany’s bilateral engagement in Ethiopia.
The advisory project supports GIZ’s initiatives in advancing Ethiopia’s Transitional Justice process, a key outcome of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement. Signed on 2 November 2022 in Pretoria by the Ethiopian Government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, the agreement ended over two years of conflict and laid the foundation for national reconciliation.
Kamski and Wedekind will travel regularly to Ethiopia between October 2024 and June 2025, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and context-sensitive support throughout the project.
